Guide
Client galleries that bring in leads
Most gallery links get treated as a storage locker: upload, send, forget. The people who open that link are the warmest leads a studio gets. Every Obscura Studio session has share links with an email gate, favorites, an expiry date and an Insights tab, and used with some restraint they turn a delivery into the next booking.
Gate the guest link, not the client link
A link can require a name and email before it opens. The entry is recorded as a lead, visible and exportable as CSV from the session Insights tab. The gate belongs on the link the couple passes to family and guests: those people buy prints and book the next session. The paying client keeps an open delivery link. They paid; the photos are theirs.
A welcome note that asks for one thing
Each link carries a welcome note and a cover photo. Two sentences and one ask: mark favorites, or share with family, or reply about prints. One ask gets done. Five get ignored.
Give the link a date
Set an expiry a few weeks out. A closing date gets people to download and share now rather than someday. Three days before it closes, Obscura sends the studio a reminder email, which is the cue for one line to the client. Nothing is deleted when a link expires; it can be extended or replaced.
Follow up inside a week
Open Insights, export the leads, and send one short email while the photos are fresh: thanks for looking, an offer to help with prints or a session, and nothing more. Helpful beats persuasive.
Reading the Insights tab
- Opens and unique visitors show how far the link travelled.
- Downloads show who wanted the files. High opens with low downloads usually means phone viewing; check that the link allows full-resolution download.
- Most downloaded shows which frames people cared about. Those are the portfolio and print candidates.
- Leads are the names. Everything else is context for the email that follows.
What not to do
- One follow-up, not more. Silence after one email is an answer.
- A reply that says stop is honoured, and the address comes off the list.
- A gated link should not ask for the email again in the note.
- Watermarks stay on guest previews; the watermark is the only credit line that travels with a screenshot.
