Terms of Service
These are the terms for using Obscura Studio at obscurastudio.design: the studio (upload, cull, edit, deliver), the client galleries you send out, and the public Community. Obscura Studio is operated by Steve Harris, Livingston, Tennessee. Last updated September 6, 2026.
The service
Obscura Studio is a browser-based studio for professional photographers. You upload RAW or JPEG files, cull them, edit them in the browser, and deliver finished photos to clients through a gallery link. The Community is an optional public area where photographers share work, edit recipes and discussion. Your sessions and galleries are private; only what you post to the Community is public.
Your account
One account is one person. You must be at least 18. Keep your password to yourself; everything done with your login is yours. We may close an account that breaks these terms or is used to harm other people. If you think someone else has your password, change it from the Account page or use the reset link on the login page.
Your photos and your clients
You keep every right to the photos you upload. You promise that you have the right to upload and share each one, including any consent you need from clients, models or other people in the frame. Obscura stores and displays your photos only to run the service for you: we do not sell them, license them, or use them to train any model.
A client gallery opens for anyone who has its link. You choose whether visitors must leave a name and email first, whether they can download, whether previews are watermarked, and when the link expires. Treat the link like the key it is.
Plans and billing
The Free plan includes 10 GB of photo storage (accounts created before September 14, 2026 keep 100 GB). The paid tiers add storage and nothing else: Pro (1 TB) is $20 a month or $192 a year and Pro 10 TB is $100 a month. A price change applies to new subscriptions; an existing subscription keeps the price it started at. Billing runs monthly (or yearly for annual Pro) through Square; card details go to Square and never touch Obscura.
Cancel any time from the Account page. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then drops to Free. Going over your storage limit never deletes anything: existing photos and galleries stay exactly where they are, new uploads wait until you make room or upgrade.
Community
Posts, comments, threads, handles and profiles in the Community are public. Be civil. Post only photos you have the right to share. We may hide or remove content and ban accounts, including without warning for spam, harassment or illegal material.
When you share a photo to the Community, Obscura makes a copy, so the post survives later edits or deletion in your session. Delete the post itself to take it down.
Trash and deletion
Photos you delete go to a per-session Trash and are kept for 30 days, then removed together with their files. You can empty the Trash sooner yourself. To delete your whole account, email [email protected] from the address on the account; deletion completes within 30 days and backups age out over the following 30.
Availability and backups
Obscura Studio is a small independent service running on hardware the operator owns. The database is backed up nightly and the photo store weekly. There is no uptime guarantee and maintenance windows are not announced in advance. Keep your own originals; Obscura is a working copy and a delivery tool, not your archive.
Acceptable use
Do not upload illegal content or malware, scrape the site, harass other users, probe or bypass security and rate limits, or resell access. Doing any of those ends the account.
Liability
The service is provided as is. Obscura is not liable for lost data, lost business or indirect damages, and total liability is capped at what you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that the law does not let us limit.
Changes to these terms
When the terms change, the new text and date appear on this page. Continuing to use Obscura after a change means you accept it.
